“Eighty-one years ago a stranger walked calmly into the city of Marlen and tore two thirds of it apart with his bare hands. Nothing could harm him until William, an Eternal, arrived. When the dust settled William was left, badly beaten, but alone. A government spanning a thousand worlds saw the devastating potential of a single Eternal, and how defenseless they were.
In the wake of this revelation an organization formed to protect the people. The Eternals, once feared, are now the saviors of their society. They fight for their leaders to make sure a tragedy like Marlen never happens again.
When a seventeen-year-old girl is discovered to be a powerful Eternal and forced into this military organization to fight and kill, the others begin to wonder how much of a say they have in their existence, and if they’re only tools to be used. Tensions worsen when a potent drug is discovered that can make anyone as strong as they are, and a new Eternal unlike any they’ve seen before openly assaults the government.
Alliances wear thin and some begin to wonder whether the stranger who tore through Marlen all those years ago is really the villain everyone claims he is, or if he was just a scapegoat used to trick the Eternals into a life of servitude.”
This is a section of my site dedicated to a series of techno fantasy novels. The series was inspired by a wide range of sources including the larger than life nature of heroes from comic books, the long, sprawling and epic tales from fantasy, and the more technical, well explained world of science fiction.
I’ve always found this particular series to be a difficult one to classify. It’s never been hard enough in its science to fall under the category of science fiction, and much too modern in its world and feel for me to feel comfortable labeling it as fantasy. In the end, the label techno fantasy seemed to be the best fit.
Below is all the supplemental work I’ve done for the series in order to build the world. The bulk of this is a fictional book written by one of the characters detailing the history of the world.
